New Mexico Caving Adventure

Caving!

Last weekend I had the oppurtunity to go caving in New Mexico! I went with my brother-in-law Brian and my step-father-in-law Rob. It was my first caving experience, and I was a little scared at first because I didn’t know what to expect. I thought that it would be slimy with bugs everywhere and bats flying in my face. But it turned out to be really fun! There were no creepy crawlies or bats, which was very nice indeed. We just walked, crawled and slid our way into different chambers in the cave and explored all around. I even brought back a cool rock I found in there as a souvenir. We had some neon colored popsicle sticks that we dropped on the ground everywhere so we could find our way out of there, but at one point we couldn’t find one of the sticks and were lost for a few minutes. Even though it wasn’t a long time before we found the stick my mind started thinking “Oh crap, what if we get lost in this huge cave!! Wauuuugh!” But alas it was found and we made it out safe and sound!

The Paradox of Abadox

Abadox

If you remember the old NES games, you’ve gotta check out this video. A video blogger shares his emotions as he tries to pass the first level of Abadox, an old shooter for the NES. I haven’t laughed so hard in a while. That guy is hilarious!

Crazy Bird Calls

I’m not sure if this video is dubbed, but it sounds and looks really convincing! My favorite is the camera shutter. Sounds just like my Canon SLR!

*update* I checked it out on Wikipedia, and it seems legit!

Great Ball of Fire

Wow, scientists discovered a huge ball of fire that is hurling itself through space. From the article:

The gas ball is about three million light years across, or about five thousand million times the size of our solar system. It appears from our perspective as a circular X-ray glow with a comet-like tail nearly half the size of the moon.

Let’s hope that it doesn’t come our way! Goodness Gracious!

More Tools!

Extensions and Clickities!
I’m not really what you would call a “Mr. Fix It”, but this weekend I was happy to get my hands on a shiny new socket wrench with a 6″ extender. I was trying to get a dead battery out of my beetle and it was proving to be quite a challenge. But a trip to Sears fixed that in no time! Did you know that Craftsman tools are guaranteed for life? Awesome! I had this busted wrench that I took back and they replaced it with a brand spanking new one!

Red Letter

A new band formed at my Church called ‘Red Letter’. They kinda remind me of Franz Ferdinand. The sound system in the auditorium there is really fantastic, and they really made sure to use it to its full potential. It was loud and they did some totally sweet low bass stuff with their keyboards. It was really great to worship to! You can download an mp3 of one of their songs from last Sunday if you would like.
