Easter Egg

I was bored so I added a hidden easter egg to the site today. See if you can find it! And hey no looking at the source, you hackers!

The 5:20 Funny Podcast

podcast icon

Every day at 5:20pm on 103.7 The Mountain they play a comedy clip and they call it the ’5:20 Funny’. I always enjoy listening to it when I’m driving home from work. The other day Marty Riemer mentioned that he puts the mp3 of the clip up on their website for download. So I decided to scrape the site and make a podcast of the show! It’s working pretty great, if you subscribe to it and see anything weird or have any other ideas please feel free to let me know. The podcast feed can be found at:

Enjoy!

*Update* – This stopped working and I don’t have time to fix it. Sorry. :|

Superman’s Invulnerable Suit

At work today we were talking about SQL scripts Superman Returns, and the question was posed: “Why doesn’t his suit shred to pieces when it is getting pummeled with bullets and fire?” Well, a quick Google search discovered this, straight from the horse’s mouth:

Superman the know it all.

Superman, in his smarter-than-any-human wisdom, made the suit himself! I wonder if he used a sewing machine…

I’m a Paid Photographer

Today marked a milestone in my digital photography hobby. Since around January I have been uploading my shots to istockphoto.com and selling them for $.20 – $1.00 depending on what resolution a customer downloads. The catch with iStock is that they won’t send you a check until you make $100. Well today I finally reached that number with my 218th download! Here’s the picture that got me the final $.20 I needed:

Model = Wife

Some of you may recognize that highly attractive model. ‘Tis my wife! ;)

New Horizons

Liftoff!

I missed this back in January, but the New Horizons Mission to Pluto was launched. There’s a CD on the spacecraft that has my name on it (along with thousands of other names, too)! NASA is really doing a great job of getting people more interested and involved with their missions these days. Check out this page that shows where it is in real time.

Buggin’

In an effort to get myself a MacBook Pro I’ve been working on my Volkswagen Beetle that has been in the garage a few years. I restored it in High School and it was quite a project. I lifted the body off of the pan, replaced the rusted out floorboards with new ones, added new seals, carpeting, headliner, fenders, etc. But lately my problem has been with the carb. It took me a few days to figure out what the problem was. Turns out it was this tiny little brass tube that was connected to the accelerator pump that was all clogged up. Jamming a sewing needle up in it and wiggling all the gunk out solved the problem! As you can see from the movie, she’s running great! Sarah and I took a drive and it was really fun! Now that it works again I’m starting to think that I shouldn’t sell it… hmmmmmm
