An Elephant’s Memory

*Disclaimer – this is an email forwarded story, proceed only if you want to*

A young man was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from college. While he was walking through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.

The elephant seemed distressed so the man approached it very carefully. He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant’s foot. There was a large thorn deeply embedded in the bottom of the foot.

As carefully and as gently as he could he worked the thorn out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man and with a rather stern look on its face, stared at him. For a good ten minutes the man stood frozen — thinking of nothing else but being trampled.

Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned and walked away.

The man never forgot that elephant or the events of that day. Twenty years later the man was walking through the zoo with his teenage son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to where they were standing at the rail. The large bull elephant stared at him and lifted it’s front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times, all the while staring at the man. The man couldn’t help wondering if this was the same elephant. After a while it trumpeted loudly; then it continued to stare at him. The man summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. Suddenly the elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of the man’s legs and swung him wildly back and forth along the railing, killing him.

Probably wasn’t the same elephant.

Get Pumped for LOST Season 3!

Came across a great video on youtube that makes me hunger for season 3 of LOST! Check it out and become even more confused…

ps I also changed up the look of the site a bit, using an image from a wheat field that I took on a trip to Eastern Washington.

What You Must Do on Friday

Last Friday, you probably saw Snakes on a Plane. (I didn’t because snakes freak me out, even CGI ones) That means that this Friday you should go to Andrew Platter’s CD Release Party at The Paradox! All the cool kids are gonna be there, and also the losers as well so all will feel welcome. There’s some other great bands playing also, one of them being my pal Steve’s Rebels & Scientists! So you have two options — go to this show or go to this show. The choice is yours!

Surprise!

Like I said earlier, I wanted to upload a great shot of all the peeps that made it to my surprise party! What an awesome time! I truly had no idea about the party and was so shocked to see so many friends and family all in one place! Click the image to see a larger version:

My 27th Year has Arrived

I got a great email from my Grandpa this morning:

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday dear Daniel! Happy Birthday to you! (We do mean you). We can’t believe that you’re 27.

We love you,
G’ma and G’pa.

PS. Your birthday money was donated to the Ronald Mc Donald House to help those less fortunate.

A few years back my grandparents decided that us grandkids have enough ‘stuff’ and decided to donate our Birthday and Christmas money to charity. For a while I didn’t get it but now upon reaching 27 I see what a great idea it is. Thanks for the cool gift, Grandpa and Grandma!

I had a huge surprise birthday party that Sarah threw for me a few weeks ago. I’m gonna add a post of that soon with some great pictures of the event. Stay tuned…
