I had a very busy trip in the U.S. this weekend as i came home for my Grandma Betty’s memorial service last Thursday. I am currently waiting in the S terminal at the airport to catch my flight back home.
Grandma’s memorial service was really wonderful. She was a beautiful lady who had the most class of anyone I have ever known. I will miss the sparkle in her eye as she would pinch my cheek with a smile and call me ‘honey’. My brother in law put together an amazing video that details her life that I will put on the blog in a future post.
Outside of the memorial, i was able to see lots of friends and family. I even had the opportunity to go to the Seahawks playoff game with Jon Soini on saturday! We both agreed that it was the best pro football game we have ever seen. We left the stadium high fiving complete strangers, one guy even gave Jon a hug! A laughable moment for sure.
I was also able to get some good food in, including a burger and Mexican food with my pals Andrew, Stephanie, Erin and Brian. Today the Roundhill clan got together for a lunch to hang out while there was a lot of us in town.
So, back home I go! I miss my family like crazy and am looking forward to getting back. We were able to Skype a lot, thanks to the new client update for iPhone that allows me to video chat with Sarah wherever she is. So cool!

Hazel got up nice and early this year (ugh), and she loves her new play kitchen! I got a pair of amazing clarks slippers from Sarah, my feet are toasty!
Wishing everyone a Happy Christmas!

Tuesdays are a fun (yet busy) day for me. Sarah has a church staff meeting in the morning so Hazel and I typically head out for an outing around Glasgow. Today we hit Starbucks for a bag of Christmas blend, then the post office to pick up a parcel. It’s really great to spend some time with Hazel, especially now as she is full of life and learning to talk really quickly. She repeats anything you say!
After Sarah gets back i work through the evening. I’m very thankful to have a job that allows me to be flexible with my schedule for my family’s needs.
Here’s a shot of the two of us while under the train overpass:

Splish splash!
I’m walking back with my Dad from the Byres road Starbucks. Trying out an HDR photo and the way better WordPress for iPhone 2.6! Shot is of a monastery which unfortunately was destroyed by fire.

A (very) short film by Dan. Starring Owen, Emma and Hazel.

Part of our initiation to Scotland involved the complete destruction of a 100-year-old piano. Kellie got a free one last year and had it delivered to their flat, but turns out that it was no good as the piano tuner gave it a diagnosis of ‘un-tunable’. It felt a little weird to destroy an instrument like that, but at the same really fun to just hack it apart! Brian spent most of the day busting it up in to pieces wherever he could. After work I joined up with him and took some wire clippers to the piano strings. “Sproingggg!, Blaaang!” coughed the strings as they played their last notes ever.
It became even tougher towards the end, as we had to figure out how to get a large piece of metal off of the frame of the piano. It proved to be quite difficult, and I had pretty much given up hope that we would ever get the piano out of a flat that is three flights of stairs up. There were HUGE bolts that we couldn’t get off of the bottom of the metal piece. Brian (who never gives up apparently) busts out a saw and just start sawing one of the bolts off, and it worked! After trading some extreme sawing-sessions, we got the metal plate off. Here’s the bolts and the saw after the fact:
So after that, the girls joined us and we carried all of the bits and pieces that were left down the stairs! It was raining quite hard outside, which made the piano smell really bad as it got wet for some reason. Good fun!
