Coldplay – Viva La Vida

The new Coldplay record is really, really good. I’m going to go ahead and claim that it is the best record they’ve made ever!

Viva La Vida

It hasn’t been released yet, but you can listen to it here if you’re ok with hearing an ad every once in a while. (thanks for the link, Rich)

Pay what you want for the new Radiohead Album

Radiohead’s new album “In Rainbows” is coming out next week and they’ve decided to let the people decide what they want to pay for it. If you want to you can pay nothing for it. I decided to pay two pounds, which should come out to around $4. All you do is go to inrainbows.com and fill out what you want to pay and on October 10th you will get an access code to download the album. It’ll be interesting if they post what the average user paid for the record. Crazy stuff, this ‘digital age’!

How much would/will you pay?

New Modest Mouse album = Fantastic!

Modest Mouse
Sometimes I get a feeling that a new album coming out is going to be really good. Most of the time I’m right, and this time I think I won again. I bought the new Modest Mouse record ‘We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank’ on a whim yesterday. It’s a fantastic album, best one of ’07 and best so far by the boys from Issaquah in my opinion. Sarah agrees, she likes it a lot as well and she’s not really a MM fan. So far my favorites are ‘Fire It Up’ and ‘Florida’, the latter of which has a sweet ending that throws in a sweet heavy riff that will have you throwing up bull horns in no time. \m/ ‘Dashboard’ is great too but they’ve already overplayed it on The End so I’ve had enough of it already.

It’s a great record, go get it! Like now! (They had it for $9.99 at Target this weekend if you’re looking for a good deal!)

Pandora, You Know Me Not

I’ve been using Pandora for a while now, and have enjoyed learning about all kinds of new music through it. It’s a part of the music genome project, a service that is always ‘learning’ about music genres and what kinds of music a person likes. All you do is enter an artist that you like, and Pandora goes off and finds similar artists that my interest you. If you like the song you hear, give it a thumbs up. If not, skip it or give it a thumbs down to never hear it again.

I think it still has some bugs, because on my ‘Radiohead’ station, it brought up the song “How’s it going to be” by Third Eye Blind. Yuck!

Oops

Most of the time it works fine :D . Give it a try if you haven’t yet!

What You Must Do on Friday

Last Friday, you probably saw Snakes on a Plane. (I didn’t because snakes freak me out, even CGI ones) That means that this Friday you should go to Andrew Platter’s CD Release Party at The Paradox! All the cool kids are gonna be there, and also the losers as well so all will feel welcome. There’s some other great bands playing also, one of them being my pal Steve’s Rebels & Scientists! So you have two options — go to this show or go to this show. The choice is yours!
