Mobile Meetup in Milan

My team at Automattic got together last week for a meetup in Milan. We worked hard on WordPress for iOS (Version 2.8 adds Stats, internationalization and a cool Quick Photo post feature!). When we weren’t working we wandered around the city streets, deciding where to eat or grab a beer (or two).

I found Milan to be quite nice, the food was tasty! I was a bit surprised at how much Graffiti was on the walls. Apparently that’s quite standard for most large European cities. The weather was nice, but apparently warmer in Glasgow and I missed out!

This weekend we’re going to actually tour Scotland a bit, including a B&B stay on the Isle of Skye. Our dear friends Beau and Bridget are just flying in now to go on the trip with us!

Here’s a bunch of iPhone shots I took throughout the week:

The Blogger’s Handbook

Just litter your book cover with WordPress logos and show a chart of WordPress dominating the other platforms to sell, sell, sell!

I’m off to Austin, TX for the mobile team meetup and SXSW! My airplane terminal is 27-C and my seat is 27C, a sign of a brilliant trip to come?

To the U.S. and Back Again

I had a very busy trip in the U.S. this weekend as i came home for my Grandma Betty’s memorial service last Thursday. I am currently waiting in the S terminal at the airport to catch my flight back home.

Grandma’s memorial service was really wonderful. She was a beautiful lady who had the most class of anyone I have ever known. I will miss the sparkle in her eye as she would pinch my cheek with a smile and call me ‘honey’. My brother in law put together an amazing video that details her life that I will put on the blog in a future post.

Outside of the memorial, i was able to see lots of friends and family. I even had the opportunity to go to the Seahawks playoff game with Jon Soini on saturday! We both agreed that it was the best pro football game we have ever seen. We left the stadium high fiving complete strangers, one guy even gave Jon a hug! A laughable moment for sure.

I was also able to get some good food in, including a burger and Mexican food with my pals Andrew, Stephanie, Erin and Brian. Today the Roundhill clan got together for a lunch to hang out while there was a lot of us in town.

So, back home I go! I miss my family like crazy and am looking forward to getting back. We were able to Skype a lot, thanks to the new client update for iPhone that allows me to video chat with Sarah wherever she is. So cool!

2010 Automattic Meetup

I spent the past week in Seaside, Florida with the folks from Automattic. It was a great time! A lot of work, some play, and good eats with a great team of people. The mobile team cranked away on an iPad subscription reader which is looking really good. Throughout the week, Automatticians gave 5-20 minute ‘flash talks’ on really interesting subjects.

I did manage to get away for a kayaking trip which was excellent, as well as a fun early morning photo walk. I also found some of the ‘Truman Show’ filming locations.

Here’s some pictures from the week:

Sweaty in Seaside

I’m out in Florida this week with my pals at Automattic. It’s the town where ‘The Truman Show’ was filmed, one of my favorite movies. I’m hoping to find some of the spots where they filmed to get some pictures! So far so good, but it is hot and humid here.
