    Hi,

I just downloaded the app, it works great, I’m going to donate!
However, I had some suggestions to improve it.
    - it would be nice if a post could be sent without text and title. if only a pic is to be posted, it is not possible now.
    - the size of the picture can not be changed easyly when writing a post. It would be nice to have the possibility to set the width when writing the post and not only for pre-set values.
Both of these suggestions come from the fact that I use asides plugin and sometimes do not want to post more than a pic to the left-hand side (with a width of 190 px), but to post a larger pic to the main part requires different settings.

Still, the app is great, thank you for working on it :-)

my wptogo crashes while i am saving the Account Data.

Reinstallation and reboot of my Phone (Samsung Galaxy) does not help.

    Any Ideas?

    • 3 Dan August 3, 2009 at 10:27 am

      Hi Connor,
Do you have any plugins running on your wp install? Are you running version 2.7 or higher?

p.s. Awesome that you have the Galaxy, we’re stuck with HTC devices in the states for now :D

  3. 4 mths August 3, 2009 at 2:06 pm

Really great, but I can’t upload pictures. I can select one, but it just doesn’t upload, using wordpress 2.8.
    Any ideas?

HI I have installed wptogo in my htc hero. However, when i put in the address for the xmlrpc.php file i get a error 500 message. Can any one help?

    Thanks,

    • 6 Dan August 9, 2009 at 1:18 pm

      Hi there,
Make sure to just type the path TO the xmlrpc.php file, not the file itself. So if your xmlrpc.php file is at blog.com/xmlrpc.php, all you need to enter in the settings is blog.com

Hi, any idea of img not being uploaded ( wp2.7, text upload work fine ) ?
perhaps blog permissions or anything else ?

    thanks

    Hi Dan,

I’m having issues setting up my WPtogo… I am entering the pathway to the php file, without the xmlrpc.php extension and I’m still getting an error… I am receiving error “HTTP status code: 406!=” How can I fix this?

    Thanks!

I like your app.. But I don’t have an Android phone.. Can you provide me with one?

  8. 12 Alan August 20, 2009 at 1:40 am

Like Liza above, I also got an error (with different error code from Liza) “HTTP status code: 412 != 200” Would you help me to solve this, Dan?

    Thank you.

  9. 14 sebzan August 22, 2009 at 1:57 am

    Hi!

I also have a HTC Hero and having problems with uploading pics, i can choose them but they don´t display on the “post page” at the Hero like in your pics above…

I´ve been using other software as Mblog for Windows mobile right up to this so I know It´s working to upload pics.

    - My wordpress is 2.8.2
    - HTC Hero
    - Your latest software :)

    Anyone solved this issue?

Regards Zeb and thanks for a good app! :) (zeb@zanders.nu)

    • 15 Dan August 22, 2009 at 7:14 am

I installed a Hero ROM on my G1 a while back and also noticed the same issue. HTC went ahead and changed the Android select picture API to return something different than all of the other Android devices. I don’t think I can fix it for the hero, as it would break all of the other devices. I blame HTC for this one :(

  10. 18 Voicenotes August 27, 2009 at 12:47 am

What is the WordPress Blog URL (path to xmlrpc.php): ?????

What am I to put in this empty text box ???

Then username and then password right?

Im not a computer geek sorry!

    I have the T Mobile G1

  11. 19 Jesper August 27, 2009 at 4:55 am

    Hi,

It’s a shame it doesn’t work with my Hero. Tried it and I have the same problem. It does not upload pictures. :(

Please let me know if you fix it. Love the app though.
    Keep it up!

    / Jesper

  12. 20 tom August 30, 2009 at 5:08 am

Same prob with hero, could you fix?

    • 21 Dan August 30, 2009 at 8:12 am

Again, I’m pointing the finger at HTC on the Hero issue. They changed one of the core API’s for Android so that they could make a fancy picture selector with animations. I can’t fix it without breaking all of the other Android devices. Sorry :(

  13. 22 Christian September 1, 2009 at 2:50 am

Too bad. I have the same problem.

I don’t think you have a choice but to make a new version for HTC hero if you wanna keep WPToGo alive though. All future android phones from HTC (who also produce Googles own phones)will share the new API.

No use for WPToGo, if it only works on very old phones.

The android wp app that fixes the problem with the new HTC api will take the throne, be it WPToGo, PostBot or something else. And with all the wp installations out there, it could be a nice little business if charging a small fee or donation. (Personally I think WPToGo is the most cool app., but if it doesnt work on new phones, it does’nt matter)

    Just a good advice.

Thanks for a cool little app, to bad I cant use it on my new phone.

    Cheers !

    Christian

  14. 26 Holger Nietgen September 8, 2009 at 10:06 pm

    Hi Dan!

I have a little suggestion for your great piece of Android software. As I use two “subpages” on my URL (you can find under holgernietgen.de/spd and holgernietgen.de/privat two complete different pages) it would be nice if you can build in a feature, so you could rename the Accounts in the starting screen. Now it says two times Holger Nietgen, with no difference… is that possible?

    Cheers

    Holger

  15. 27 Sara September 9, 2009 at 10:25 am

Thanks a million for the update! It works (on my Hero)! Now you’re my hero ;-)

  16. 28 Holger Nietgen September 9, 2009 at 10:40 am

    Hi Dan!

Thanks for your ultra-fast positive response to my feature-request. Your are saying in your answer to me, that I should update, but “my Android-Market” says, that I have the latest version? So I can´t update :-( And I don´t wanna erase your App and reinstall it, because I´m afraid to loose all the preferences…

    Cheers

    Holger

Any chances of a similar application for Google Blogger?

  18. 31 Priscilla September 15, 2009 at 4:14 pm

    Hi!
Great App!I actually wanted to see how I can send you information for the localization of your App. What’s the best way to get in touch?

    Thanks,
    Priscilla

  19. 32 Carl September 17, 2009 at 1:41 am

I really like this App but I do seem to have a problem with the image thumbnail. It seems to be screwy and doesn’t work right. It always makes the images smaller than what you set in the Maximum Thumbnail Pixel Width/

  20. 35 axx September 17, 2009 at 5:14 pm

Hey, I wanted to use this app as it looks quite fun, but I get an error when adding my account:
java.net.UnknownHostException: Host is unresolved: https:80java.net.UnknownHostException: Host is unresolved: https:80

The blog is hosted on gandi.net

The xmlrpc address gandi gives me is:
    https://blog.gandi.net/ xmlrpc.php/mycomplicatednumbersandletterskey
I tried without and with the space, with it it crashes WPtoGo, without it gives the forementionned error.

Here is what google documentation has to say about the error:
    http://code.google.com/android/reference/java/net/UnknownHostException.html

    Any clues?

    thanks!

    • 36 Dan September 17, 2009 at 5:25 pm

Are you just typing https://blog.gandi.net in the url area? That should be all you need…

      • 37 axx September 27, 2009 at 6:13 pm

        Oh my. I’m really stupid.

I realized gandi blogs are Dotclear. Not WP.

        No wonder.

I’m sorry I wasted your time.

        Cheers!

    • 38 Mark T October 12, 2009 at 2:04 am

I get the same problem with my WordPress blog. I think it’s because wpToGo is unable to correctly connect to https resources (seems to be hardwired to port 80?)

If I put in an http URL instead then it follows a 301 that I supply to my https address, but then it fails as it ends up GETing rather than POSTing.

Could you pretty please make this work with https URLs on port 443? TYVM! :-)

      • 39 Mark T October 12, 2009 at 2:05 am

Oh, and if you need either a tester for an updated version or a test URL to play with, feel free to mail me!

  21. 40 Mike September 21, 2009 at 10:07 am

Anyone got it to work on HTC magic? I cant connect, how is you .htaccess file configured?

  22. 41 Mike September 21, 2009 at 11:34 am

Got to work on my magic, but can’t upload pics….

  23. 42 Clément September 25, 2009 at 4:47 am

    Hey,
I just installed on my Hero and I can’t even get to the picture bug :) .
It tells me my password is login/password is wrong when I try to add an account.
Tried creating a new login/password and I always get the same error :( .
    Any clue ?

  24. 44 Koni October 5, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Thanks for the app! Works great on my HTC Hero. Is it possible to resize images before uploading images?

  25. 45 Peter October 10, 2009 at 3:14 pm

  27. 48 steve October 13, 2009 at 7:54 am

I have a Sprint HTC Hero and just installed the app.
When I put my account info on and click Save, nothing happens.

No error message or anything, save button changes color while I press it but nothing happens.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    • 49 Dan October 13, 2009 at 8:35 am

      Hey Steve,
Did you give it some time? When you click save, it is going and grabbing your account info so sometimes it takes a bit.

  28. 50 ectopist October 15, 2009 at 4:06 am

Nice app, just one “slight” problem – try to save a draft, it asks for a name, I give one, then it doesn’t confirm anything happened but nor does it give an error. Unfortunately, though, nothing was saved, as far as I can see at least. You’ll agree with me that this is a bit of a drawback when you have been writing some sheer poetic genius for the last half hour and all is gone….

  29. 52 Ting October 20, 2009 at 2:11 pm

    Hello Dan,

I tried to look through the comments and bug fixes to see if there were any other users having the same problem as myself, but it does not appear so.

My WP blog is the current version 2.8.4
I’ve also installed the most recent version of wpToGo from the Android Market (1.8.3) and am on the myTouch3G running the 1.6 firmware.

Now my issue is that I can post are submitted sucessfully, and my images upload are in fact uploaded, but when I go to look at the actual post, it’s just text. I think for some reason the html tags aren’t getting completed? For example, this is what my post looks like:

    img alt=”image” src=”http://www.mechangel.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/wpid-2009-10-03-16.17.49.jpg” /br /br /Test

It looks like all the html tagging has been stripped. I have two blogs, this one and a fresh install I did today that both exhibit the same behavior.

Have you ever encountered this scenario? Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

  30. 56 Rusty Russell October 26, 2009 at 9:19 pm

    Hi,

Nice app, works well except for two things (HTC Magic):

    1) Whenever I turn off the phone or hit Home then reopen the app, it goes back to the opening screen: hitting back gets me back to what I was doing, but I nested fairly deep before I realized that :)

    2) When I hit Apply Changes after a moment on the “Editing Comments” whirly, I get a “Sorry! The application wpToGo (process com.roundhill.androidWP) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. [Force close]“. The changes aren’t applied.

    Thanks for the sweet app!
    Rusty.

  31. 57 Sherm October 29, 2009 at 10:56 am

    Hi Dan,

Like Ting above I am using the Mytouch3G with 1.6 Donut, and my WP blog is a new install of version 2.8.5.

I’m able to post with out any trouble but always get this message:
“Post ID# XX added successfully, but an error was encountered when uploading images”

Tried uploading different sized images but none seemed to work and checked server logs, no errors there.

I love this app and would use it all of the time, but pictures are important to this project. Any advice?

    Sherm

    • 58 Dan October 30, 2009 at 10:24 am

      Hey Sherm,
This seems to only be an issue with certain self-hosted installs of WordPress. Can you check if the images actually show up in the Library? It seems that in most cases, the images are uploaded but the XMLRPC service doesn’t send back the URL to the image properly, which is why wpToGo displays that error.

Any other details you can provide would be helpful! My blog is on wordpress.com so it’s hard to test self-hosted.

      • 59 Sherm November 4, 2009 at 7:37 pm

        Dan –
I hadn’t been able to get any images to upload until today. Eventually I thought to make sure the directory /wp-content was writable and for grins, created the uploads folder under it. Works perfectly now and I can’t wait to give this app some more use.

        Thanks,
        Sherm

I love the idea to work with yout tool. But I have no access to the android market because of using an “archos 5 Internet Tablet” running Android without the market app. Is it possible to download the actual version from your homepage?

I would like to make a request. I have purchased the donation app in the store.

Would it be possible for you to add a section for ftp data so the pictures can be stored on an alternate server from the server with wordpress installed?

        User/pass
        Host name
        Directory path
        Http path to image

And with that data it stores the image and then uses the http path to refer to it in the post?

  37. 71 Ken November 29, 2009 at 6:30 am

    Hi,
I Use the Dotclear CMS which can use xml/rpc protocols (not sure if I’m using those terms right). I was wondering if you could pretty please add in the ability to bypass the wordpress domain so other xmlrpc enabled blogs can use this?
    Thanks Dan!

Hello, your app is great but unfortunately i can’t view or post a new article : i get a “connection error – java.io.IOException: cannot deserialize dateTime -0001113TT0::0::00
On the contrary, i can see comments without problem .

  42. 83 yuki tannaka December 24, 2009 at 4:13 pm

hi, a great work! i am eager to use your app. however, the current version does not seem handling the “title” part of postings in Japanese appropriately (“body” text seems alright. though). the “title” text strings look like they are converted to ASCII-encoding through wpToGo somewhere in its process. most PC-based browser can show them correctly in plain HTML “post” pages, but its “admin” modules cannot convert those ASCII codes back to UTF-8 Japanese characters, thus leading to illegible “title” part in the admin post editor section and garbage “permalink” strings. it would be great if you could keep the “title” text in the original UTF-8 format through its entire process, so that those uneasy incidents be avoided. (perhaps you send the title text by GET instead of POST? can you send them by POST all together?) thank you!

  43. 84 ganassa December 28, 2009 at 6:46 am

    Hi

what about adding a feature that let user share web pages, or other type of content, via wptogo? Something similar to share content via twidroid/delicious/greader or other similar plugins installed with various social network apps?

  44. 86 ray December 30, 2009 at 12:04 pm

is it possible to add the ‘custom fields’ function – only because there are a lot of wp users that use timthumb.php to handle their pics throughout their sites…

Thanks in advance and this app is great!

  45. 87 Filippo January 3, 2010 at 3:23 am

Hi, I cannot find wptogo in the Android market for the HTC Tattoo. Have you marked the application as qvga-compatible? otherwise it won’t appear in the market to qvga-devices..

      Hey Israel,
Are you running the latest version of wpToGo? Looks like it’s crashing at a weird place, that’s why I’m wondering.

      • 93 israel January 7, 2010 at 9:47 pm

        Dan,

Ya, 1.94. I can give you a better logcat, I’ll clear the log and then only take the log from when I click the “save” button.

Really like the app by the way, it is a great thing to have.

I haven’t written any android apps yet.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the pic is actually uploaded to my /wp-content/uploads directory, but no link is created in the post, just like Sherm. I have wp-content and wp-content/uploads and all subdirectories changed to write permissions for everyone, i.e. 777 (which is insecure, but I did it for the troubleshooting).

Im a big fan of the app, and am using it to manage a blog with hundreds of tags. It would be great if you could add the ability to download tags ala categories, so you don’t fork your tag topics because of typos or not remembering how you spell a persons name. Auto-suggest would be my next request!

  49. 97 Pete January 18, 2010 at 12:49 pm

A big feature request: Hyperlink the uploaded photos, to enable people to reach the full size image from the thumbnail.

    • 98 tuomi January 22, 2010 at 5:00 am

      +1

I guess I don’t need to explain why but this would be a really good feature!

    • 99 Kenneth January 22, 2010 at 7:04 am

      I agree!
This feature would me highly appriciated :-D
The Android app PostBot has this feature, but i like wpToGo has a much better design to it..
      Please provide this feature! :-)

      • 100 Dan January 22, 2010 at 10:01 am

        hey folks,
I actually had this as an option in an earlier version, but it was buggy for a lot of people and caused crashes. How about I throw it back in and you guys can test it for me?

      • 101 tuomi January 23, 2010 at 3:08 am

Yeah that would be really appreciated, you could see if you can find some inspiration in the image-attch-options in the latest wp-installment. Both regarding their thumbnailing standard and ability to link to the fullsize picture.

        Cheers!

Great app on my Motorola Milestone. Only issue I have is with photos taken with my mobile not being rotated correctly. If I take a photo in landscape and upload using wpToGo it works fine. However if I take a phone in portrait and upload using wpToGo the image is uploaded on its side, and not correctly rotated. Suspect there is some rotate information within the actual image file that wpToGo is not acting on.

Hi, I have one question, is there a way U can add an extra field to the app? I use YAPB (http://johannes.jarolim.com/blog/wordpress/yet-another-photoblog/) on my page. When i post prom admin panel YAPB works correctly, but when U post from wptogo, post is not correct because YAPB uses an extra field to include image to post.
So question is,can U add this field to make YAPB parse correctly an image in post?

    Best regards,

Hi! How can I reach you directly regarding your Android app? It’s regarding your app featuring in an advertising campaign. If you can get back to me asap, I’d be grateful. thanks! Dave

  53. 105 Lennart January 26, 2010 at 12:03 pm

I am using wpToGo on my brand-new Nexus One and it works fine – as far as it goes. What would make it a real killer app for me is if it would also allow me to respond to comments. That would be huge. The reason is that it is not often I will try to write an entire post on my Nexus One, but I can easily respond to comments. I would use that function all the time. It would make the app an absolute must-have and would make many, including me, willing to pay for it.

I know I am supposed to be able to blog pictures with wpToGo but it doesn’t work, as others have already pointed out. I don’t see how it could, since I would have to provide an upload directory for my hosted blog, correct? I am not using WordPress.com but a self-hosted blog.

Does anyone know, or does it use a WordPress setting that I don’t know about?

  54. 107 DJ January 29, 2010 at 3:18 pm

Thanks for this App! looks like it is working but with bugs… it hangs when I hit the Categories field. I am new to the usage of the Droid and am learning more each day.
Also I created a new post and placed a photo in there but there seemed to be no way to make it show up. I saved it and there seemed to be an implied saved to local. I hit publish to no avail the Wp2Go APP crashed.
Thanks for your work on this Dan!

  55. 108 Chris January 30, 2010 at 8:31 am

Would be great to see custom fields on this app, so I can make FULL posts on the go!

  56. 109 tuomi January 31, 2010 at 4:36 am

I don’t know if you read my latest reply on the image upload-issue but would you contact me via the information provided on http://www.sugarcoat.it to send an updated apk and or sourcecode with the imageupload implemented.. I could possibly assist with my coding-skills.

    Best regards

It can’t seem to connect to my blog, http://www.tommedley.com, from my Nexus One. I get an error: “HTTP status code: 404!=200″. Xmlrpc is definately on, and it is in the root of my blog – http://www.tommedley.com/xmlrpc.php. Any ideas?

  58. 114 kalin February 2, 2010 at 6:45 pm

All I get is a 408 != 200 error with no other information. Any ideas?

    • 115 Dan February 3, 2010 at 12:05 pm

that means that your blog’s down :D

    • 116 kalin February 21, 2010 at 5:13 pm

Maybe I should have mentioned that I did check a few basic things before posting. I checked that my phone was turned on and that it had internet connection as well as checking that my blog worked. :)
Setting group permissions to read/write/execute did the trick, though it would have been nice to know which folders specifically needed the permissions change so I wouldn’t need to do it to the whole wordpress directory.

  59. 117 Paulo February 5, 2010 at 8:11 am

I’m trying out wptogo and found a bug. when you invoke blogger.getRecentPosts to get the recent posts on getPosts class you pass the following params: spacer, 1, user, password, 30. In my case my blogid is not 1 so it will return an error back to wpToGo.

It should be a quick fix i think! :)

  60. 118 Frank Varro February 23, 2010 at 10:11 am

Hey, love both the WPtoGo and the new WordPress App. My problem is, I had a local draft saved under WPtoGo, which I had looked at in the past, so i know it WAS saved correctly. Now, it is no where to be found. I cannot find any wordpress files anywhere in my file system, and I spent a lot of time on this 90% complete post. any advice on where this would be hiding in my file system?

I know this might not be the right place to ask, but it was the best one I could find.

    Thanks.

    • 119 Dan February 24, 2010 at 11:41 am

Drafts from wpToGo won’t carry over to WordPress for Android I’m afraid :(

      • 120 Frank Varro February 24, 2010 at 11:44 am

I still have wpToGo though. Is there anywhere I should be looking in my file system for the original saved copy, in case it unlinked itself somehow? (I did have to re-input all my login stuff before this draft disappeared, so I’m wondering if its just in the wrong sub-folder)

      • 121 Dan February 24, 2010 at 11:48 am

Drafts are saved in a local database, not a file. I don’t think it should have been lost on account of installing WordPress for Android. Your drafts tab is empty?

      • 122 Frank Varro February 24, 2010 at 11:51 am

Yeah, draft tab is empty. I searched my droid for anything with a filename with wptogo, wp, or wordpress, and didn’t find anything on the sd card or in the base memory, so I got stuck there…
